David is a composer who finds his own language for each film.
In each of his works there is a surprising idea that binds the viewer/listener
emotionally to the film.
In addition, in David's work you can also feel his closeness to songwriting, which gives his
his scores a strong melodic quality.
-Niki Reiser, Composer-
At the age of 14 I wrote my first score for a theatre play. Having been a musician before, it was at that moment that the true spark of passion came to life: musical storytelling.
I started my musical career as a piano player at the age of eight, but soon discovered the dirty, loud and ecstatic sound of the electric guitar. That was it! For the next 4 years, I spent up to 7 hours a day playing in my room, discovering this versatile instrument and all the different genres of music it encompasses. At the age of 18, synthesizers came into my life. For the next two years I produced almost exclusively psytrance and drum n bass music. Soon after I joined the pop-rock band Pentatonic as singer and guitarist. We toured all over Germany. It was a challenge for my untrained voice, so I decided to take singing lessons from the great opera and musical singer Florian Schneider. I joined many other bands during this time. But no matter what kind of music I created, it always led me back to musical storytelling. It was then that I decided I wanted to learn to write music like the great film composers, to write full orchestral scores and to learn to conduct. This desire led me to the Zürich University of the Arts. I studied composition for film and graduated with a master's degree, trained by the Swiss composer Niki Reiser and many other great mentors.
I attained masterclasses by Alexandre Desplat, Hans Zimmer, Henning Lohner, Don Davis, Cliff Martinez and many more.
Since 2018 I'm a freelance composer and all my musical fascinations have come together. Wherever a story takes me, I cannot wait to discover and create more moving music...
I'm a co-founder of the label sàd-records.
